Insider Pointers for Locating Cruise Deals

vacation packages

People who have had the opportunity to enjoy a vacation aboard a cruise ship often are enthusiastic about taking another, similar voyage. Even those who haven’t been cruising yet look forward to being able to enjoy the many benefits of taking a vacation of this type. In many cases it comes down to a matter of finances and people need to locate hot deals on cruise tickets before they can make it happen. Below, there are some tips that will help people to secure cruise deals that can make a sailing vacation affordable.

Finding deals comes down to a combination of having a good strategy, being in the right place at the right time, and being able to take swift and decisive action to book hot deals when you find them. It is the principle of supply and demand that still rules when it comes to the rates. If the cruise lines have more ships out on the water than they are able to easily fill, then discount cruise travel deals start to appear. If they are enjoying quick bookings and people clamoring to get aboard, then the travel deals disappear and the prices start to climb.

When a cruise line brings a new ship or two into service, they suddenly have increased their capacity considerably. These days, the new vessels are usually in the “megaliner” category. This means they will drop their prices to fill up the cabins. In order to compete with the cruise deals that are offered to fill their new ship with paying customers, the other lines will often lower their rates at the same time. As well, former passengers often get the first notice of discount cruise travel opportunities.

One of the best ways to enjoy hot deals on cruises is to be as flexible as possible with the category of ship and the type of cabin you are willing to book. It is also a good idea to book your cruise at least 90 days ahead of the departure date. For the best discount cruise travel deals, it is advisable to book four to six months ahead because the rates are generally lower when the ship is far from full capacity. However, if you can be super-flexible about when you can leave, then you might be able to find super hot deals on last minute travel.

When you are considering the available deals, be sure to remember that the rates for cruises include all your meals aboard ship, your on-ship entertainment, and most of the onboard activities such as movies, live shows, gym usage, games and sports, and dance classes. Some people are more than satisfied with all of the food, fun and activities that are included in the “all inclusive” price.

If you discovered great cruise deals and ultimately got a break on your ticket price, then bravo to you and happy sailing. However, you will have some additional expenses of which you should be aware. It is customary, and expected, for you to tip the service staff. Plan on about $10 per day to cover this expense. Bottled water, soda pop, and alcoholic beverages are not included in your ticket fare, so you need to budget for your needs in this area as well. Also the shore excursions, special spa services and extra classes, such as yoga, need to be paid for separately.

The sun will be your to enjoy all day long as well due to fact there is nothing for miles around that will cause a shadow. Modern liners even boast flumes, wave machines and surfing gadgets that will keep you entertained for hours.

With an atmosphere you simply cannot beat, casinos are a great place to make friends and brush up on your betting skills. You don’t have to go out all guns blazing to have a good time. Blackjack is a good starting point to get yourself going if you’re a newbie. Its easy to learn and you can make money without having to be an expert.

•    Bar. There will be a number of different bars all over the ship and some luxury cruises are all inclusive, so there is no excuse not to sample some liquid delights. The bar staff are often well travelled and will welcome a break from making martinis all day if you ask them for something exotic. Get them to shake up your favourite tipple or put a twist on a classic drink. Drinking something traditional to country you are stopping of at is a great way to sample what you have in store for you.

•    Shows. The performers on cruise ships are often some of the best that money can buy. Set a little time aside for an evening in the theatre and you won’t be disappointed. Ask the staff around the ship for their recommendations and cruise reviews. They will be the people in the know as they’ve probably seen the shows many times in the past.

Are aviation emissions really the worst of our problems?

Written by zoe on Monday, April 27th, 2009 in Travel Tips.

The government have announced plans to increase the tax on air travel to over twice the current amount, in a bid to reduce carbon emissions. This new ‘green tax’ will apply to long haul flights and will supposedly be spent on green issues and reducing global warming. It sounds like a good plan, even if it does mean we’d have to pay more to fly, after all aviation emissions are a huge factor in global warming and one of the main areas for concern, right?

Well, no actually they’re not. I’m not trying to say that aircraft emissions are a fabrication or that they don’t contribute, because they’re not and they do. But looking at the figures it’s clear that air travel counts for only two per cent of our total CO2 emissions. Yes, there is certainly room for improvement, and any way to reduce carbon emissions can only be a good thing, but is doubling the tax on air passengers who want to see the world or take tropical or Caribbean holidays really the way to go about it?

I suppose the theory is that luxury holidays are not a necessity in life and those who can afford them can afford to pay extra to help alleviate the environmental cost, but the bottom line is this scheme is not reducing global warming at all, it’s just charging people more for it. An alternative scheme, proposed by the travel industry, suggested that instead of taxing passengers the government could instead tax the airlines for any seats left empty. Considering that on average 1/3 of all seats in the sky remain empty, this plan could have actually changed things by encouraging airlines to make less flights and ensure that planes were always as full as possible.

Unsurprisingly this proposal was rejected. Maybe it was realised that although it could cause a serious reduction in carbon emissions, there was far less scope for making money out of it than taxing passengers more. As far as saving the planet goes, although it’s true airline pollution could and should be reduced, before this can be done people’s attitude needs to change. And in my experience there is no better way to change the way you feel about the planet than to see it – whether you go exploring in the rainforest, backpacking in Australia or just chilling out on a beach in Jamaica, holidays open people’s eyes to the world and let you see what’s out there worth saving.

Now that holidays have become main stream many people are taking multiple cruises. Now many people travel to destinations never before thought of. There are lots of different types of cruises and cruise catagories it all depends on your personality.

There are many different cruise lines for a person to choose from and the cruise line that is chosen can make or break the cruises.

The Caribbean Islands

Caribbean island are chosen when people plan their cruises because they are safe, clean, and full of trained professionals who’s one job is to make your trip fun. Chicago Ohare Airport Hotels With Park Sleep Fly Deals

Written by zoe on Friday, April 24th, 2009 in Travel Tips.

Parking at O’Hare Airport can be a big pain in the butt. What I have learned from past experience is leave the driving into the airport for the shuttle drivers and cabs. Since I don’t live close to O’Hare Airport, I learned to use what is known as the park sleep fly hotel.

The park sleep fly hotel usually offers parking up to 14 days and a shuttle ride to and from the airport, not to mention a 1 night stay at the hotel. With that in mind we will list the top 3 hotels near Chicago O’Hare Airport offering park and fly packages, with the lowest priced deals first for those on a budget. These deals often cost less than the price of airport parking alone.

The Ramada at O’Hare Airport is about 6 miles from the airport and offers a park sleep fly package starting at just $89 for up to 4 people and 14 days parking. This is one of the best deals for any airport hotel. Costing far less than parking at O’Hare and you get to stay at the hotel for 1 night before or after your trip. Definitely a good deal for the money, even if you don’t stay the night.

The LaQuinta Inn and Suites Near O’Hare Airport had the next best deal at only $95 for 2 people and up to 14 days parking. They have their airport shuttles running every hour, and are located just 7 miles from the airport. Not being right next to the airport can be a blessing if you’re a light sleeper, no noisy airplanes flying over all night. Located in Elk Grove Village just north of O’Hare Airport, this is a nice hotel and you will get a good nights sleep knowing you are getting a better deal than airport parking alone.

The Radisson Hotel O’Hare is for anyone who wants to be closer to the airport. Located 2 miles from O’Hare airport, this park sleep fly package will only cost you about $119 for 7 days parking, with free shuttles running every 30 minutes. This is a top rated hotel parking package for the price, and close to the O’hare airport. Other hotels closer to the airport will cost almost twice as much as this package.

So as you can see, staying at one of these park and fly hotels is completely within your reach, especially if you have to park at O’Hare anyway. Often costing less than airport parking alone, these could fit right into your travel budget, and maybe even save you some time and money in the long run.
